Danese Cooper

Danese Cooper kickstarted the modern era of InnerSource popularity with a keynote at OSCON 2015 in Portland, Oregon and “Getting Started With InnerSource”, a booklet (co-authored with O’Reilly Media’s Andy Oram) describing PayPal’s first experiment (which is currently the most popular downloadable asset on GitHub). She is currently a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff and Head of Open Source at PayPal. Previously Danese was CTO of Wikimedia Foundation, the first Chief Open Source Evangelist for Sun Microsystems and Sr. Director of Open Source Strategy for Intel. She has spoken internationally for the past 18 years on the topics of Open Source and InnerSource. Prior to the advent of Open Source, Danese worked in leadership roles at Apple, Microsoft and Symantec. Danese also runs DaneseWorks, a successful consultancy to companies wishing to pursue open source strategies. She's currently serving as Chair of the Node.js Foundation, Director on the Drupal Association and Apache Member.
