Mohamed Elsakhawy

Mohamed Elsakhawy received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt and his M.E.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. He is an industry expert in Cloud computing with expertise in large-scale multi-site Clouds. He served as the Operational Lead of Compute Canada’s Cloud National Team between 2017 and 2021. In 2022, Dr. Elsakhawy joined the Cirrus Lab at the University of British Columbia, Canada as an Adjunct professor. His current engagements focus on the architecture and engineering of private on-prem Clouds.

Dr. Elsakhawy is a frequent speaker at open-source conferences including StackConf, and OpenStack/OpenInfra summits. He served as the Vice-Chair and Chair of the OpenStack user committee between 2019 and 2020. His research interests lie in the broad spectrum of Cloud Computing with a particular focus on data-driven intelligence for the Cloud.
