So you want to be a Kubestronaut? Join us as we explore the journey of becoming a certified Kubernetes expert. From understanding the basics of containerization to mastering advanced topics like cluster management, this workshop will expose you to it all.

We’ll delve into the world of CNCF exams, KCNA, KCSA, CKAD, CKA, and CKS, providing insights on how to prepare for each one. Learn effective study strategies, practice exercises, and real-world examples to help you stay on track.

One of the most critical aspects of becoming a Kubestronaut is having an environment to practice with. Setting up a local environment for hands-on practice is critical to your success and in this workshop, we'll make sure you are setup for success. So bring your laptop and learn how to install tools and set up a Kubernetes cluster for your portable home lab setup.

Throughout this workshop, we’ll also discuss common challenges faced by aspiring Kubestronauts, such as overcoming fear of the unknown, managing time effectively, and staying motivated. You’ll learn how to develop a growth mindset, build a support network, and stay up-to-date with the latest Kubernetes developments.

PRE-REQUISITES FOR IN PERSON ATTENDEES:

- Make sure your laptop has the virtualization feature enabled as you will be installing 2 or more virtual machines for your local cluster

- Make sure you have at least 50GB of free hard drive space for the virtual machines

- Make sure you have at least 6GB of memory available for the virtual machines

- Make sure you have a Broadcom Support account as we will be using VMware as the hypervisor on the host (you can use others but the workshop instructions have been written using VMware)

To reduce overutilization of conference WiFi, please download the following ahead of time:

- Download either VMware Fustion 13.x if you are bringing a Macbook (Apple Silicon) or VMware Workstation Pro 17.x if you are bringing a Windows or Linux machine

- Download either Ubuntu Server 24.02 AMD64 or Ubuntu Server 24.04 ARM64 images depending on your laptop's OS architecture
