The multi-region journey with Kubernetes and k8ssandra
Kubernetes as a platform is spurring the growth of cloud native platforms to be built on top, often leveraging the scale and self-healing properties of Kubernetes that were initially intended for stateless applications. Cloud Native databases have had to work around some of the sharp edges of the platform however to be able to reap some of the same benefits.
The k8ssandra open source project was intended to bring these essential distributed systems properties, like durability and linear scaling of Cassandra on Kubernetes and making it easier for operators, developers and devops audience. We heavily rely on a hierarchical set of Kubernetes operators in this evolving journey -- from a cass operator for Cassandra related ops to K8ssandra operator for multi-region operations using federation.
Attend this session to get a sneak peek on some of the multi-region and multi-cloud challenges with Kubernetes in general and how we’re overcoming them with the kubefed and k8ssandra operator with live demos. We will look at the stages of how the k8ssandra project is evolving to support multi-region and multi-cloud in the future.
