I built my first LAMP stack at high school and have been using MySQL ever since. I've never really considered myself a DBA - I just like writing automation to deal with massive distributed systems and naturally the edge cases that comes with that.

Today, I write Python automation to manage one of the worlds biggest MySQL deployments which is responsible for securely storing almost everything to do with the Facebook social graph.
