What happens when hardware puts software freedom first? We built a router to find out

From phones to TVs to wireless routers, our lives are increasingly defined by how device makers design the devices on which we rely. But who do these devices really serve? And why can't we fix them so they serve us instead?
The recently-released OpenWrt One wireless router was designed from the ground up by Software Freedom Conservancy and its member project, OpenWrt, to give you everything you need to modify and adapt the device (including, of course, its software!) to fit you, and to ensure both the hardware and its software last as long as possible - no planned obsolescence! We'll take you on a behind-the-scenes journey through the creation, manufacturing, and launch of the OpenWrt One, highlighting all the unique ways the One puts you first, while dealing with the joys and challenges of the modern hardware landscape along the way. And we'll talk about why the One is making SCALE extra special this year!
OpenWrt is one of many projects and initiatives of Software Freedom Conservancy. Join us to learn about what else we are doing to both build humanity-first hardware and software, while also bringing the freedom you deserve to your existing devices. We're excited to share more about what we do to bring you freedom and agency in your technology in practical and tangible ways!
