Keeping Your PostgreSQL Replication Healthy: Resolving Conflicts for Optimal Performance

Replication conflicts can disrupt the consistency and reliability of a PostgreSQL database, especially in high-demand environments. This talk focuses on practical steps for monitoring, detecting, and resolving common replication conflicts. Topics will include understanding and configuring PostgreSQL’s conflict resolution parameters, handling long-running queries that cause snapshot conflicts, and using replication conflict logs for troubleshooting. We’ll also look at logical replication conflicts, both data and transaction ordering with an overview of how these challeges are resolved by the open source Spock extension which is based on pglogical.
