Openstack edge cloud with SONiC VPP for high-speed and low-latency multi-cloud connectivity
Managing latency, data locality, compliance, and high availability in distributed environments is challenging, particularly for real-time data processing and seamless data flow between edge locations and multiple cloud providers.
In this demo, we demonstrate how OpenStack edge cloud deployments across various data centers integrate with SONiC VPP switches over x86 servers to tackle these challenges. By using OpenStack’s Neutron for network service management, edge traffic routing through major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google) while maintaining control at the edge. This approach is ideal for critical edge applications, such as IoT and AI/ML, leveraging network slicing to provide a secure, multi-tenant environment. Together, OpenStack and SONiC VPP switches over x86 servers offer a high-performance connectivity solution optimized for low-latency, high-throughput requirements essential for edge computing.
