If you can code, you can CAD!

Popular 3D CAD, design, and modelling software is geared towards professionals and often comes with restrictive-use licenses and steep price tags. Additionally, most 3D packages are wildly powerful but quite challenging to harness, especially for those who want to get up-and-running quickly. In this talk, you will be introduced to OpenSCAD, a free, open source (GPL 2.0) parametric CAD package. OpenSCAD allows you to build 3D models and shapes using a concise, domain specific language with functional-ish techniques. This allows you to build upon your pre-existing understanding of writing software and translate this into making physical objects.

The talk will go over how to get OpenSCAD, how to code some basic shapes, the proper techniques to make flexible designs, and how to then take those models and prepare them for 3D Printing. 

The talk will be geared toward people will some background in coding, but those without that background will still benefit as the language in OpenSCAD is approachable and relatively free of gotchas.
