Speaker Interview: Clint Byrum

Clint Byrum comes to SCALE 12X to give a presentation on “OpenStack, Deploy Thyself.” The SCALE Team caught up with Clint to ask him about the talk.

Q: Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?

A: Hi! I'm Clint Byrum, and I'm an open source hacker (in the "having fun with technology sense, not the shady-eastern-european-steals-credit-cards sense).

Speaker Interview: Randall Schwartz

Randall Schwartz has been in the industry nearly 40 years, and imparts some of his wisdom in his SCALE 12X talk “My Half-Life with Perl.” The SCALE Team caught up with him to ask him a few questions.

Q: Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?

A: I've been professionally employed in the computer industry for nearly 40 years, initially working as an employee for a large company and a couple of startups, but then as the leader of my own consulting company for longer than I can remember.

Speaker Interview: Dru Lavigne

Q: Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?

A: Hello, I'm Dru Lavigne. I'm currently the lead technical writer at iXsystems, an open source solutions provider and the corporate sponsor of the FreeNAS and PC-BSD open source projects. I've been a FreeBSD user since 1997 and have taught and written about FreeBSD and its derivatives since 1999.

Speaker Interview: Jason Hibbets

Jason Hibbets will be giving a presentation on "Open Source ALL The Cities" at SCALE 12X. The SCALE Team caught up with him for this brief interview.

Q: Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?

A: I've been at Red Hat for over 11 years, and I really love my work. In my current role as project manager for Opensource.com [1] and The Enterprisers Project [2], I operate as both sites' web and Drupal administrator. I am also lead community manager and content curator for Opensource.com.

Speaker Interview: Abs Pathak

Abs Pathak of TicketMaster will be giving a talk on "High Volume Metric Collection, Visualization and Analysis." The SCALE Team caught up with Abs to talk to him about his presentation.

Q: Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?

A: My name is Abs (Abhishake) Pathak and am a Senior Systems Engineer at TicketMaster. I have been working in technology for almost 15 years in a variety of industries ranging from sustainable energies to
entertainment including various ecommerce platforms.
