He very much enjoys working for Novell where as a member of the Desktop research team he has worked on desktop infrastructure and applications, particularly OpenOffice.org, CORBA, Bonobo, Nautilus and accessibility, amongst other interesting things. He now works as an Architect, trying to understand and nudge the direction of our Linux Desktop work. Prior to this he worked for Quantel gaining expertise in real time AV editing and playback achieved with high performance focused hardware / software solutions.
Abstract:
Come and find out about OpenOffice.org and see how Free Software is on the brink of a major disruption of the office suite market. Find out how it integrates and re-uses an increasing number of technologies from the Linux desktop, and behaves ever more beautifully, and performantly, (or something).
See the new features, hear about the curious and interesting things under the hood, and locate the pain points. Hopefully I'll encourage you to get involved, and show why this is simply -the- best place to make your personal blow for freedom - the fruit doesn't hang much lower than here.
