Open Source Career Day

Open Source Career Day (OSCD) returns for SCaLE 20x. SCALE is again joining forces this year with Linuxfests' own RaiseMe volunteer team. OSCD features career consulting sessions ( resume reviews, career guidance and mock interviews ) and a full day of talks on Sunday March 12, 2023.

The event is not just for job hunters, it is also for established professionals who want to make the most of the roles they already have. OSCD also features talks for those just starting their career and those recareering into technology.

The event will include:

Career Consulting

All day Sunday we will offer free 30 minute one-on-one career consulting appointments with our industry volunteers. Bring a hardcopy of your resume for a Career Check-up, Resume Review, Mock Interview, or Job Hunt Assist. For hiring managers we also have help with Job Posting and Candidate Evaluations.

Presentations

We will have two talks:

1. What to do in order to succeed in those early career jobs once you get them
2. A hiring manager panel discussion for career guidance in different roles.

Clinics

There will be clinics will offer group topic explorations on

1. recareering and resume development
2. FOSS diversity successes and how we can replicate that with FOSS projects and in industry.

These will be formally structured presentations interspersed with group exercises. No pre-registration is required.
