Identifying Patterns in Successful Platform Engineering Setups

As platform engineering gains more traction, many organizations are looking for a guide to platforming their setups. However, a comprehensive roadmap is hard to find.

Last summer, the Platform Engineering Community put on the first-ever PlatformCon, a virtual conference made by and for platform engineers. The conference revealed common pain points, approaches, and open questions. Our team studied the testimonies of 70+ community-submitted talks and 6000+ attendees, 100 virtual meetups and in-person roundtables, and discussions from 7000+ Slack members to find patterns of the best and worst platform engineering setups. Here’s what we learned.
