Practical psql - fast navigation on your Postgresql DB using only the terminal

During my 18+ years as a developer, I always needed databases but never got used to a visual application to manipulate the database. Psql proves efficiency and ease anything you need to access a database instance or do any necessary maintenance. You also don't need to have an infinite memory to remember all the commands and compose crazy and long commands to use it.

As a terminal fan, I'll be live coding during the entire session, not to repeat myself and find a productive path to use the command line without repetitive typing.

The talk will three split into 3 different parts:

1. Intro to terminal and bash scripts: here I'm going to get people familiar with basic programming in bash and how the terminal binds the most common shortcuts for productivity.
2. Psql: How psql is an exemplary command line application and how it can boost your productivity with shortcuts and a simple interface that allows you to focus on a single task at a time.
3. Productivity tips and tricks: I'll share dozens of shortcuts and other command line utilities that can save time and avoid excessive typing.
   
   

The live coding will be very dynamic and can benefit all types of audiences:

• Beginners can benefit from all the parts as there's no advanced programming in the session, but more practical advice on navigating and building your own workflow using the terminal.
• Intermediate and advanced developers already familiar with the command line can benefit from better configuring it, learning about tooling, and more advanced settings that can save time from their workflow.
