The Yocto Project is pleased to present two training sessions on how to use the Yocto Project tools, including the OpenEmbedded build system and the Poky reference distribution. All are welcome. A beginner workshop will be offered on Thursday March 3rd, and a follow on advanced course on Sunday March 5th.
OpenEmbedded Introductory Course
Date: Thursday March 2, 2017
The Yocto Project provides an industry standard set of tools and methodologies for building custom embedded Linux operating systems. In this course, you will learn how the OpenEmbedded build system works with a set of recipes that control everything from the Linux kernel to hardware support. Tom will cover all the basics: installing and configuring the tools, understanding the terminology and the concepts of recipes and layers, and the process of configuring and building recipes.
OpenEmbedded Advanced Course
Date: Sunday March 5, 2017
In this advanced, hands-on course, you will learn how to use the OpenEmbedded build system to customize a Linux operating system for the BeagleBone Black. Hardware will be provided for the first 35 registered attendees. The course will cover working with the Linux kernel, working with project layers, building images, and using devtool, a new project development tool. Come prepared to learn while working directly with the hardware.
